Sony Pictures Classics is set to reissue the 1999 German cult thriller “Run Lola Run” in celebration of its 25th anniversary on June 7. The re-release will include a new DCP from the 4K restoration, done in collaboration with the filmmakers.

Written and directed by Tom Tykwer, “Run Lola Run” stars Franka Potente, Moritz Bleibtreu, Herbert Knaup, Joachim Król, and Nina Petri, marking an international breakthrough for both the filmmaker and lead actress. The film, with its three different endings, was a box office success, earning over million in the U.S. and million worldwide. It also won awards at prestigious film festivals like Toronto International Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.

The story follows Lola (played by Franka Potente) as she races through the streets of Berlin to help her boyfriend Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu) who is in a dangerous situation and needs 100,000 Deutsche Marks within twenty minutes. As Lola runs, she faces a series of split-second decisions that have life-altering consequences.

Sony Pictures Classics expressed their excitement for the reissue, stating that “Run Lola Run” remains one of their most beloved titles after 25 years. They believe the film is just as relevant today as it was in 1999 and are thrilled to bring it back to the big screen for both current and new generations of viewers to enjoy.
