Super Bowl-Themed Open House Scheduled at River Bend Food Bank for February 8

River Bend Food Bank Hosts Family-Friendly Super Bowl-Themed Open House

The River Bend Food Bank is set to host a Super Bowl-themed open house titled “Game On,” inviting families and community members to engage in a fun and interactive environment. Scheduled for February 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event will take place at the food bank’s facilities located at 4010 Kimmel Drive, Davenport.

This engaging event aims to promote community involvement while providing an enjoyable atmosphere centered around America’s most-watched sporting event. Attendees will have the opportunity to savor tailgating-themed food and participate in interactive games designed for all ages. In a step toward fostering community responsibility, families are encouraged to bring canned goods from their homes. These donations will play a vital role in supporting those who are experiencing food insecurity in regional communities. Moreover, participants can help sort these donations, thereby directly contributing to the food bank’s mission of alleviating hunger.

Jenny Colvin, Vice President of River Bend Food Bank, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event, noting, “After the positive response we received during our Expansion Open House last August, we felt it was essential to extend an invitation to the entire family. Our goal is to build connections within our local communities that inspire collaborative efforts towards ending hunger. Providing families with an opportunity to participate in this mission together is the ideal starting point.”

Adding to the day’s excitement, special guests, including Rascal—the beloved mascot of the Quad City River Bandits—along with the Deckmate Dancers from the Quad City Steamwheelers will be present. Their participation is expected to enhance the festive spirit of the occasion, making it a memorable experience for attendees.

The “Game On” open house is free, offering an inclusive opportunity for community members to come together in support of a noble cause. Registration and additional details about the event can be found on the River Bend Food Bank’s website here.

As the Super Bowl celebrates its annual tradition, the River Bend Food Bank seeks to highlight a crucial issue—hunger in local communities—while providing a platform for families to connect, engage, and contribute positively. This open house not only reinforces the importance of community spirit but also underscores the necessity of collective action in the fight against food insecurity.
