Monarch Shows No Sign of Slowing Down’ or ‘Queen Urges Compliance’

The Queen has reassured author Lee Child that the King is “doing fine” but is not one to slow down or follow orders. The conversation took place at the Queen’s Reading Room Festival at Hampton Court Palace in Surrey, where Child humorously commented that it sounds like a typical husband.

The King, who is reportedly still undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, made his first public speech at a D-Day event in Portsmouth. This appearance marked his most high-profile event since his diagnosis. Despite his health challenges, he is expected to participate in the upcoming Trooping the Colour ceremony, albeit from a carriage instead of on horseback.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, also engaged with other authors at the festival, such as Sir Ian Rankin and Ann Cleeves. The event brought together literary figures and royalty in a unique and elegant setting.
