Annual Jazz Festival hosted by Richland One on April 12

Richland One will host its annual Jazz Festival on Friday, April 12 at Emily Douglas Park in Columbia, SC. The event, celebrating National Jazz Appreciation Month, will feature performances by jazz bands from middle schools and high schools within the district, as well as special performances by the middle school and high school honors jazz bands, and the Richland One Faculty Jazz Band.

The middle school honor jazz band will collaborate with Jonathan Hernandez, a Richland One graduate and the director of bands at Cane Bay Middle School, while the high school honor jazz band will work with Mark Sterbank, the director of jazz ensembles at Charleston Southern University.

The festival, which is free and open to the public, will also include food vendors. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at Hand Middle School.

For more information, contact the Richland One Office of Visual and Performing Arts at 803-231-6858 or 803-231-6859. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy an evening of jazz music in the park with your family and community members!
