Chicken parm meal prompts public health warning
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service recently issued a public health alert for Nurture Life’s Chicken Parm with Super Veggie Spaghetti meal products. This alert was due to a misbranding issue, as the spaghetti component contained egg white, which is a known allergen that was not declared on the product label. Nurture Life alerted the FSIS to this issue after discovering it during an internal audit.
Despite the oversight, no recall was requested as the product is no longer available for purchase. The chicken parm entrées in question were produced between Dec. 27, 2023, and Feb. 20, 2024. The specific product subject to the public health alert is a 5.9-oz. tray with a sleeve label labeled as “nurture life KIDS MEALS CHICKEN PARM WITH SUPER VEGGIE SPAGHETTI,” with “enjoy by” dates ranging from Jan. 9, 2024, to March 1, 2024.
It is important to note that the product packaging did not include the required USDA mark of inspection. These items were sold online and shipped directly to consumers nationwide. Fortunately, there have been no confirmed cases of adverse reactions related to this issue at this time.
