Earth Day Celebration ‘Keep It Wild’ Scheduled at Kenyon
Kenyon College’s Brown Family Environmental Center (BFEC) is gearing up to host its annual “Keep It Wild” festival in celebration of Earth Day on Saturday, April 20. This free and family-friendly event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at 9781 Laymon Road in Gambier.
The festival will feature a wide range of activities, vendors, and creatures for attendees to enjoy. One of the highlights of this year’s event will be the wolves from the Ohio Canid Center in Heath, Ohio, giving visitors a unique opportunity to learn more about these special animals that were once native to Ohio.
In addition, the Ohio Bird Sanctuary will have a presentation with live birds of prey, and The Ohio State University’s United Titanium Bug Zoo will showcase live insects and arthropods. Kenyon ECO will also be present, offering a chance for attendees to make seed bombs with wildflower seeds.
For those interested in environmentally-friendly products, there will be vendors selling plants, home goods, and food trucks offering drinks and farm-to-table cuisine. Various organizations will be on hand to provide information on conservation efforts, healthy eating, and other ways to be more environmentally conscious.
Visitors can also enjoy live music performances from bands such as BABA NGIDA, a West African traditional band, as well as three Kenyon student bands.
The “Keep It Wild” festival promises to be a fun and educational event for all ages, bringing together music, nature, and environmental awareness in a celebration of Earth Day at the Brown Family Environmental Center.
