‘Encore Performance: Brillo Brass Makes Comeback 51 Shows Later’

Brillo Brass will be making a triumphant return to the Chester Music Festival this weekend, marking a reunion 51 years in the making. Under the direction of Malcom Perry, this group of friends will come together to celebrate the passage of time since their last appearance at the event in 1973.

The highlight of their performance will be ‘Little Suite for Brass’ by Malcolm Arnold, a piece that they previously played as part of the Ellesmere Port Grammar School for Boys Band at Chester Town Hall in May 1973. With 20 players set to take the stage, including original members from the 1970s and new additions from Whitby Comprehensive School, the band is sure to deliver a memorable and nostalgic performance.

Spokesperson David Lancashire expressed excitement for the reunion, emphasizing that the players, now in their adult years, are eager to relive the joy of making music together. With the added participation of five additional musicians for this special occasion, the group is determined to have a great time reminiscing about old memories.

The reunion will be made even more special as Malcom Perry will once again take the baton to conduct the band. This event serves as a reminder that the love for creating brass band music never fades, and Brillo Brass is ready to showcase their passion and talent at the festival.
