Family Access Network Receives ,000 Grant from Philanthropic Foundation

Family Access Network Secures ,000 Grant to Support Local Children in Need

The Family Access Network (FAN), a pivotal organization dedicated to assisting families in Central Oregon, has announced the receipt of a substantial ,000 grant from the Ronald W. Naito MD Foundation. This grant is designed to support general operating expenses, enabling FAN to continue its critical mission of aiding children and families struggling with the adverse effects of poverty.

FAN addresses diverse challenges faced by families in Central Oregon, particularly amidst the region’s escalating housing costs. As many families find it difficult to secure stable living conditions, children often endure significant disruptions in their education and overall well-being. Issues such as inadequate winter clothing, housing instability, and limited access to essential hygiene products can create barriers to learning and participation in school activities. The new funding will allow FAN to mitigate these challenges, ensuring that children arrive at school well-nourished and equipped to succeed both academically and socially.

“The importance of meeting the basic needs of children in Central Oregon cannot be overstated,” commented Marianna Frisinger, Chair of the FAN Foundation Board. “This generous grant from the RWN Foundation exemplifies our shared commitment to fostering strong and resilient communities. We are grateful for their support in helping us fulfill our mission.”

Established in 2019 by Dr. Ron Naito, the Ronald W. Naito MD Foundation carries on his legacy of community healing and transformation. The foundation prioritizes funding for initiatives that focus on health equity, climate action, Oregon arts and education, and the development of sustainable communities. Dr. Naito’s medical practice was characterized by an unwavering dedication to empathy and active listening, principles that the foundation aims to incorporate into its philanthropic efforts.

Founded in 1993, FAN operates uniquely in Central Oregon, employing 28 advocates who are strategically placed at 65 sites across Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties. This placement model enhances the organization’s ability to connect with families directly in the educational settings where children spend significant amounts of time. Each year, FAN advocates touch the lives of more than 7,500 family members, working diligently to disrupt the cycle of poverty and promote educational access.

FAN’s mission is clear: to provide assistance, possibility, and hope to local families in need by connecting them with vital resources. As the organization continues to expand its outreach, the support from the RWN Foundation will be instrumental in advancing its goals and ensuring that children are prepared to flourish both in school and in life.
