First ‘Newcastle Card Show’ Collectors’ Fair to be Hosted by Discovery Museum

Discovery Museum in Newcastle is set to host the Newcastle Card Show on Saturday, June 8th, marking the first time this event will take place at this iconic venue. Trading card enthusiasts of all generations are invited to come together at the Great Hall to celebrate their hobby and browse through a variety of collector’s cards including Pokémon, Yu-gi-oh, sports cards, and more.

Organizer Ash Tiernan, known for his online and social media presence as Pokémon content creator @GoldenGibbon, expressed excitement for the event, mentioning how the show outgrew previous locations, leading to the need for a larger space like the Discovery Museum. Tiernan curated a special display of collector’s cards from the museum’s collection, showcasing the evolution of the hobby over the years.

Attendees can look forward to a community-donation rummage box where children will receive a mini-tin upon entry to fill with their chosen cards. Ticket prices start at £6 for adults and £3 for children, with booking essential for entry.

The Newcastle Card Show is a gathering where trading card enthusiasts can buy, sell, and trade cards, expand their collections, and connect with fellow collectors. Popular franchises like Pokémon, Yu-gi-oh, and Magic the Gathering make regular appearances at these events.

For updates on vendors and event details, follow the Newcastle Card Show on Instagram. Attendees can also explore the museum’s other exhibits, such as the Spirit of Invention exhibition from The National Archives, on display until June 23rd.

Located just a short walk from Central Station in Newcastle city center, Discovery Museum offers a journey through the history of the city and its people, showcasing inventions, innovations, and the human story from Roman times to the present day.
