Floyd County Library’s Recbar Readers Celebrates Five Years

Floyd County Library Marks Fifth Anniversary of Recbar Readers
The Floyd County Library is commemorating the fifth anniversary of its innovative community reading initiative, Recbar Readers. Designed specifically for children and teens, this program aims to foster a love of reading while offering participants the exciting chance to earn rewards. The initiative allows young readers to earn tokens redeemable for arcade games at Recbar 812, along with additional prizes generously provided by local businesses.
The Recbar Readers program is set to run from February 15 to May 31 and is open to all participants in 12th grade and below. This initiative not only incentivizes reading but also encourages community engagement and cooperation among local businesses, creating a mutually beneficial relationship that promotes literacy and entertainment within the community.
Participants will utilize Beanstack, an online reading log platform provided by the library, to track the hours they spend reading. This user-friendly application allows for easy logging of reading time, as well as tracking progress towards goal completion. Once readers reach their targeted hours, they can exchange their logged reading time for prize certificates at the Floyd County Library. This integration of technology enhances the reading experience and adapts to the digital landscape that younger generations are accustomed to.
The program has grown substantially since its inception, reflecting the community’s commitment to literacy and youthful engagement. Encouraging children to immerse themselves in books not only enhances their academic skills but also fosters creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence. Moreover, the interactive rewards system, which includes arcade game tokens, makes reading both entertaining and rewarding, motivating participants to read more.
Local businesses play a crucial role in this initiative by providing prizes which further invigorate community involvement. This collaborative approach emphasizes the importance of supporting youth literacy efforts, which are essential for cultivating a generation of knowledgeable and engaged citizens.
As Recbar Readers celebrates its fifth anniversary, it stands as a testament to the power of community-driven literacy programs. The Floyd County Library continues to be at the forefront of promoting reading among youth, ensuring that the joy of literature is experienced beyond the pages of a book. Residents are encouraged to participate and make the most of this unique opportunity, actively contributing to a thriving culture of reading in Floyd County.
