Kimono inspired by a famous singer to be showcased before UK performances

A custom kimono has been specially designed for Taylor Swift as she gears up for her upcoming performances in Scotland. The pop superstar is set to take the stage at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh for three consecutive nights from June 7 to June 9 as part of her global tour, The Eras.

The kimono was commissioned by the design museum V&A Dundee ahead of Swift’s visit to Scotland. Created by Glasgow School of Art graduate KellyDawn Riot, the kimono incorporates elements from all of Taylor Swift’s albums, with color schemes and motifs inspired by her music and lyrics.

This unique kimono will be on display at the V&A Dundee museum as part of the Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk exhibition, starting this Saturday. Museum officials are hopeful that they will be able to present the kimono to Taylor Swift during her time in Scotland.

Chris Keatch, content manager at V&A Dundee, expressed excitement about collaborating with KellyDawn Riot and the opportunity to celebrate this pop-culture moment in Scotland. He mentioned that they are working with VisitScotland and Murrayfield Stadium to potentially gift the kimono to Taylor Swift’s tour promoters.

Keatch highlighted the significance of the kimono exhibition, noting how the traditional garment has influenced modern fashion and popular culture. With fans creating their own outfits inspired by Swift’s eras tour, V&A Dundee aims to join the celebration of The Eras in Edinburgh.
