New Chief Financial Officer announced at WH Smith
WH Smith’s chief financial officer and chief operating officer, Robert Moorhead, is set to retire after more than 20 years with the company. Moorhead has been instrumental in transforming WH Smith into a global travel retailer during his tenure.
Carl Cowling, the chief executive of WH Smith, praised Moorhead for his support and leadership, especially during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Cowling commended Moorhead for his financial acumen and strategic guidance, which has left the company in a strong position.
Moorhead will be succeeded by Max Izzard, currently serving as the senior vice president of group and corporate finance at Burberry. Izzard brings a wealth of experience from his roles at luxury brand Burberry and previously at IHG.
Izzard is set to join WH Smith on 1st September, following Moorhead’s retirement from the board on 30th November. Annette Court, the chair of WH Smith, highlighted Moorhead’s outstanding achievements and welcomed Izzard as a highly capable successor with significant international business experience.
With this transition in leadership, WH Smith looks towards a promising future as a successful global travel retailer operating in 32 countries worldwide.
