AuSable Township Welcomes Throngs to Annual Trunk-or-Treat Celebration

AuSABLE Township, MI – The Oscoda-AuSable Senior Center became a vibrant hub of activity on Friday, October 31, as it hosted its annual Trunk-or-Treat event. Drawing an estimated crowd of 1,000 participants, the event showcased a mix of community spirit, festive fun, and family engagement, emphasizing the importance of safe, local celebrations during the Halloween season.

Although the festivities officially commenced at 5 p.m., a palpable excitement filled the air as eager children began to line up around 4:30 p.m. By the time the event kicked off, approximately 100 children had already congregated, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to fill their bags with an assortment of Halloween treats. The anticipation among families was evident, emphasizing a sense of community and togetherness that pervaded the event.

With clear skies and mild temperatures in the mid-50s, attendees enjoyed ideal weather conditions for outdoor activities. This year, the OASC parking lot was alive with anticipation as local businesses and organizations filled 58 vendor spots, showcasing a diverse array of Halloween-themed candies, glow sticks, and novelty items, all contributing to creating a magical experience for the young trick-or-treaters.

Children, donning an impressive variety of costumes ranging from classic ghouls to whimsical characters, eagerly greeted their friends. Their laughter and joy resonated through the venue, turning the atmosphere into a heartwarming celebration of community spirit. The festive decorations, including cobwebs, skeletons, and witches, adorned both vendor tables and vehicles, enhancing the visual appeal of the event and immersing participants in the Halloween spirit.

Adding to the festive ambiance, J.D. Hock served as the DJ for the evening, spinning a mix of spooky and nostalgic tunes that resonated with both children and adults. His thoughtful selection of music contributed to the overall thrill of the occasion, further elevating the experience for attendees.
