Participate in the Wilder Communities Event at Northam Burrows on Friday, March 8th – Gamers DXB
A free drop-in event is set to take place at the Northam Burrows Visitor Centre on Friday, March 8th between 12:00 and 3:00 pm. This event presents a fantastic opportunity for attendees to bring their ideas to the Wilder Communities Team. Participants will receive inspiration, advice, and resources to elevate their ideas or projects to the next level.
Devon Wildlife Trust, a renowned charity with over 60 years of experience in wildlife conservation, is spearheading the event. The trust is dedicated to protecting wildlife and the natural habitats that make Devon unique. The Wilder Communities Team, established by the trust, aims to support communities in taking action for nature in their surroundings.
Contrary to popular belief, the trust believes that making a positive impact on nature does not always require large or well-funded projects. The Wilder Communities Team is prepared to assist with projects of all sizes, whether it involves creating a mini-meadow in a garden or park, aiding hedgehogs in a neighborhood, establishing a community orchard, or simply nurturing an idea. Their goal is to inspire individuals to bring their ideas to life with the trust’s expertise and collaborate with others in the community to create greener, wilder, and more nature-rich environments.
The Torridge District Council is collaborating closely with Devon Wildlife Trust and other environmental organizations to enhance biodiversity in the local area. This partnership is aligned with the Government’s 25-year Environmental Plan and the national strategy to combat the decline in wildlife and promote nature restoration across the country.
Torridge District Councillor Lyndon Piper, the Lead Member for Leisure, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event. He highlighted the importance of the Wilder Communities campaign in fostering collaboration to protect local wildlife and create more vibrant communities in Torridge and beyond.
Katie Wilkinson, the Wilder Communities Team Leader for Devon Wildlife Trust, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the value of working together to support wildlife conservation. She expressed delight in partnering with Torridge District Council to host the event, promising attendees a rewarding experience alongside tea and cake.
Save the date and join the Wilder Communities Team at the Northam Burrows Visitor Centre on March 8th to contribute to nature conservation efforts and make a difference in your community.
