Bharati Foundation’s “Giving Thanks” Event Supports Local Families in Need

On November 1, 2025, the Bharati Foundation conducted its annual “Giving Thanks” event at Pugsley Preparatory Academy in the Bronx, New York. This initiative provided essential groceries and items to over 225 families facing economic hardship, reflecting the foundation’s commitment to community support and engagement.

The event was held in collaboration with Pugsley Preparatory Academy and the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. – Kappa Epsilon Zeta Chapter, as well as the office of Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson. This partnership underscored the importance of collective efforts in catalyzing change and reinforcing community ties. The participation of various local organizations not only enhanced the event’s reach but also highlighted the significance of working together for the greater good—a principle that Bharati Foundation founder Bharati Sukul Kemraj emphasized during her remarks at the event.

“Real impact happens when organizations unite for a shared purpose,” Kemraj stated. “This event represents more than giving groceries — it represents giving hope. By working together, we ensure families feel seen, supported, and loved.” Her statement encapsulated the foundational ethos of the Bharati Foundation, which centers on resource connection and empowerment within the local community.

The event featured volunteers who actively packaged and distributed items including fresh produce, grocery staples, and special Thanksgiving treats. This approach not only ensured that families received the necessary food supplies for the season but also fostered an atmosphere of care and dignity. Volunteers expressed a strong sense of community spirit as they interacted with families, embodying the essence of compassion that the event aimed to promote.

As the “Giving Thanks” initiative continues to grow, it reinforces the role of community service and volunteerism as pivotal elements in addressing food insecurity and fostering kindness among neighbors. With each passing year, the event sets a higher standard for civic engagement and collaboration, offering a model for similar initiatives across the region.

Looking forward, the Bharati Foundation remains committed to expanding its outreach programs to better serve the community and address prevalent issues such as poverty and hunger. The continued success of the “Giving Thanks” event illustrates the power of collective action and the profound impact it can have on those in need, transforming not only lives but also the spirit of the community at large.
