Quebec Residents Encouraged to Illuminate the Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights Until December 31
Record-Breaking Bulbs Shine Bright at Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights Ceremony
On December 12, 2023, the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation celebrated a remarkable milestone during the lighting ceremony of the 17th edition of the Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights campaign. This year, an astounding 624,683 bulbs illuminated the night sky, a testament to the generosity of donors across Quebec. The campaign successfully raised .1 million, bringing festive joy and comfort to families spending the holiday season at Sainte-Justine Hospital.
The success of this year’s campaign can be attributed to various long-standing partners, including media outlet Rythme and grocery chain METRO. Additionally, a significant contribution came from students and educational institutions affiliated with the Fédération des établissements d’enseignement privés (FEEP). These students were instrumental in lighting 166,599 bulbs as part of the fifth annual Sainte-Justine Youth Tree of Lights campaign, highlighting the event’s commitment to engaging young minds in charitable causes.
“Every light glowing on the Tree is a symbol of love and support for the children and families of Sainte-Justine,” noted Delphine Brodeur, President and CEO of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. “Once again this year, the community stepped up and demonstrated extraordinary generosity, and this unprecedented number of lights is the result. Thanks to our donors and wonderful partners, we have achieved over million to fund new medical discoveries and develop innovative, life-changing solutions.”
Jean-Sébastien Lemire, Vice President of Music Station Strategy at Cogeco Media, expressed his pride in the campaign’s outreach. “Since 2008, Rythme has been actively promoting Sainte-Justine’s Tree of Lights. The overwhelming public and listener support serves as an inspiration for us all. We are honored to be part of this remarkable act of generosity.”
In addition, METRO has been a steadfast supporter of the Sainte-Justine mission, with its employees and customers contributing significantly over the past eleven years. This year, they helped illuminate more than 42,000 lights, resulting in a donation exceeding 0,000 to the hospital’s Social Services Department through the METRO Sainte-Justine Family Assistance Fund.
As the festive season continues, the Tree of Lights will remain aglow, symbolizing hope and support for the children and families at Sainte-Justine Hospital. There is still an opportunity for the community to participate in this uplifting initiative by purchasing lights to add to the display. More information can be found at treeoflights.org.
