‘Renowned School Takes Home Over 30 Awards at Local Arts Festival’

Taunton School Students Shine at Annual Competition

Taunton Senior School students and Taunton Prep pupils dominated the recent annual competition, securing first prize in 17 categories and 15 categories respectively. The event, which celebrates young talent from across Taunton, also saw the Prep School’s Senior and Junior choirs clinch victory in their respective sections.

Toby Carden, Director of Music at Taunton School, expressed pride in the students’ exceptional musical performances, attributing their success to passion and dedication. The historic Taunton Festival of the Arts, held from January 30 to February 7, offered a platform for young musicians to showcase their skills in front of experienced adjudicators. Taunton School hosted categories such as piano, workshop, and music composition as part of the festival.

Philippa Simmonds, Director of Music and Performing Arts at Taunton Prep School, praised the musical talent displayed by all participants at the festival. Simmonds also mentioned the upcoming Barnardo’s National Choir of the Year final at the Birmingham Symphony Hall in March, where Taunton Prep School singers hope to continue their winning streak.

The success of Taunton School students at the competition highlights the thriving musical talent present in the Taunton community.
