‘Sharjah Heritage Days 21st Edition on the Horizon for SMA’
The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is gearing up to participate in the 21st Sharjah Heritage Days, a vibrant showcase of diverse heritage and culture organized by the Sharjah Heritage Institute.
Taking place from February 22 to March 3 in Sharjah’s historic Heart, a neighborhood known for its rich cultural heritage, this year’s festival revolves around the theme “Connect.”
Aligned with the vision of Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who believes that “Museums are made to educate our children and our future generations,” SMA is committed to maintaining its spaces as dynamic venues that offer innovative learning opportunities.
During the event, SMA will provide free entry to its museums in the Heart of Sharjah, including Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, Bait Al Naboodah, and Hisn Khorfakkan. This initiative aims to encourage the public to explore extensive collections and participate in activities that showcase the UAE’s identity and rich history.
One of SMA’s significant initiatives is the “Museums Express,” a unique mobile bus museum program that offers educational experiences on wheels. Visitors have the opportunity to discover various collections of the Sharjah Museum while the bus operates on specific dates at the Heart of Sharjah and Dibba Al Hisn.
In addition to complimentary museum entry, SMA is hosting various workshops during the Sharjah Heritage Days. These workshops include creating mimic doors and towers at Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn) and painting traditional patterns at Bait Al Naboodah, providing hands-on experiences rooted in cultural heritage.
SMA’s exhibitions delve into Emirati art and culture, highlighting the country’s legacy through fine arts and photography. The Sharjah Institute for Heritage organizes Sharjah Heritage Days annually as a vibrant platform to introduce the younger generation to the rich historical traditions that define Emirati culture.
