Teens Speak Up: Showcase Your Passion at the Laurens Library

Laurens Library to Host “Teens Take the Mic” Presentation Event for Young Speakers

The Laurens County Public Library is excited to announce its upcoming event, “Teens Take the Mic,” scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, at 4 p.m. This unique initiative is designed for young individuals aged 11 to 17, providing a platform for teens to present their passions and interests in a supportive and engaging environment.

“Teens Take the Mic” encourages participants to select a topic they are passionate about—be it anime, music, gaming, travel, sports, or any other area of personal interest. This event invites attendees to create a concise presentation lasting between two to five minutes, utilizing tools such as PowerPoint or Google Slides to enhance their delivery. As long as the subject matter is appropriate for their peers, participants have the full freedom to express their enthusiasm and insights.

In an age where public speaking skills are increasingly valued, this gathering serves as an excellent opportunity for young people to refine their communication abilities. Presenting in front of an audience can be a daunting task for many; however, “Teens Take the Mic” aims to create a fun and encouraging atmosphere that minimizes anxiety and fosters confidence. Participants will not only have the chance to share their interests but will also engage with fellow attendees who share similar passions.

The event, which is free of charge, is poised to be a valuable experience for both presenters and audience members alike. It provides a rare opportunity for teens to connect with their peers in a meaningful way, exploring shared interests while growing their network of friends and mentors in the community.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to support their young speakers in this endeavor. For further information regarding the event or to register for participation, interested individuals can contact the Laurens Library directly at 864-854-1853.

This initiative is an integral part of Laurens Library’s commitment to empowering youth and promoting literacy and public speaking skills among teenagers. As the event date approaches, anticipation builds not only for the presentations themselves but also for the potential friendships and collaborations that may emerge from this gathering of young minds.
