Third Edition Lineup of Sands International Film Festival Features Joe Russo and Composer Alan Silvestri from ‘Avengers’
The Sands International Film Festival has announced the lineup for its upcoming third edition, featuring acclaimed Hollywood director Joe Russo, renowned composer Alan Silvestri, and casting director Debra Zane.
Taking place from April 19 to 21, the Scottish festival aims to showcase creative and innovative individuals working in the entertainment industry. Russo, known for directing popular films such as “Avengers: Endgame” and “The Gray Man,” will return to St Andrews as the festival founder. He is expected to participate in a special conversation and host a mentoring session with local filmmakers.
Silvestri, famous for composing music for movies like the “Avengers” series, “Back to the Future,” and “Forrest Gump,” will share insights into his career and give a performance during the festival. Zane, whose casting credits include “The Hunger Games,” “Ocean’s Eleven,” and “Catch Me if You Can,” will discuss the establishment of the newly created Oscar for Best Achievement in Casting.
Russo expressed excitement about the festival, describing Sands as a place where arts, culture, and technology intersect against the backdrop of St Andrews university. Festival Director Ania Trzebiatowska is eager to welcome audiences and guests back to Sands, emphasizing the festival’s boutique scale and ambitious programming.
The previous edition of the festival featured Russo, Epic Games Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard, and casting director Margery Simkin.
