Walking with Dinosaurs to Launch on Lingokids

Lingokids to Launch Interactive ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ Lesson in the U.S.
BBC Studios’ Science Unit has announced the upcoming release of an interactive lesson centered around Walking with Dinosaurs, set to debut on the Lingokids app in the United States later this month. This educational initiative aims to engage young learners by providing an immersive experience that introduces them to the fascinating world of dinosaurs.
The lesson will embark on a time-traveling journey, employing interactive instruction, hands-on games, and various educational challenges designed to stimulate curiosity and enhance understanding. Each segment of the lesson is structured around play-based learning methodologies, offering children insights into critical concepts such as paleontology, dinosaur diets, their natural habitats, and broader themes like extinction and fossilization.
This educational endeavor draws inspiration from the newly revitalized Walking with Dinosaurs series, which is a modern incarnation of the original award-winning BBC series that premiered in 1999. The new iteration has already made its mark in the UK and is scheduled to reach U.S. audiences on PBS starting June 16.
Cristóbal Viedma, founder and CEO of Lingokids, emphasized the dual impact of entertainment and education in child development. “We all know that children are captivated by dinosaurs, and our collaboration with the University of Central Lancashire has shown that when children are entertained, they learn more effectively and efficiently,” Viedma remarked. He noted that the partnership with BBC Earth is a unique opportunity to bring an engaging educational experience to families, allowing them to further explore their fascination with prehistoric creatures long after the credits roll.
Monica Hayes, Vice President of Content Marketing at BBC Studios, echoed Viedma’s sentiments, emphasizing the community aspect of the Walking with Dinosaurs program. “Given the immense popularity of dinosaurs among younger audiences, we anticipate that families will gather together to enjoy Walking with Dinosaurs,” Hayes stated. With the collaboration with Lingokids, BBC Studios aims to transcend passive viewing, encouraging families to deepen their adventure through interactive learning experiences.
By fostering curiosity in paleontology and related sciences through engaging formats, this initiative seeks not only to entertain but also to inspire the next generation of scientists and researchers, potentially igniting a lifelong passion for learning about the natural world.
