“120th anniversary exhibition debuts at Strule Arts Centre”
Omagh Academy Celebrates 120th Anniversary with Exhibition
Omagh Academy, a prominent provider of secondary school education in Omagh since 1903, kicked off its 120th-anniversary celebration with the launch of the exhibition, ‘Veritas Vincet’. The event took place on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, and will be available for viewing until Saturday, March 23, 2024.
The exhibit offers a nostalgic journey for staff, pupils, and alumni of Omagh Academy, allowing them to reminisce about their time at the school and learn more about its rich history. It also serves as a platform for reconnecting with old friends and discovering the evolving school life. In line with this, the school recently established an Alumni and Friends Association to foster connections with past pupils and colleagues.
During the exhibition’s opening, Cllr. Ann-Marie Donnelly, Vice Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, extended her congratulations to Omagh Academy for achieving this significant milestone. She highlighted the school’s growth and progress over the years, instilling pride in those associated with it. Cllr. Donnelly commended the efforts of the school’s staff, past and present, as well as its pupils, wishing them continued success in the future.
The ‘Veritas Vincet’ exhibition will run from March 1 to March 23, 2024, at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, operating from 9.30 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday. Admission to the exhibit is free, offering an opportunity for the community to celebrate Omagh Academy’s legacy and motto, “Truth will conquer.”
