Anson County Hosts Community Baby Shower

Community Comes Together for Anson County’s Baby Shower

ANSON COUNTY – In a heartfelt display of community support, the Anson County Department of Health and Human Services organized a county-wide Community Baby Shower aimed at individuals and families who are expecting children or those who support them. The event, held over the weekend, served as a platform for local families to connect with resources while receiving much-needed essentials for infants.

Over the past several months, generous contributions from the community resulted in a variety of donated items, including diapers, wipes, bottles, clothing, and even homemade treats such as cookies. These contributions are crucial for families preparing for new arrivals and reflect the generosity of residents in Anson County.

Upon arrival at the venue, attendees were met by a warm welcome from the registration team, including Felicia Wall, Alicia Kersey, and Taniqua Lindsey, who assisted with event registration and provided a vendor passport. This passport contained QR codes linking participants to valuable information from several organizations, including WellCare, United Healthcare, Healthy Blue NC, and the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program, among others. This initiative showcased several local resources available to expecting families.

“This event has been a tremendous success,” remarked Wall, highlighting the positive atmosphere and community turnout. She noted that many engaging door prizes were distributed, and an interactive baby-themed backdrop was available for families to capture special moments.

WIC Director Donna Allen echoed Wall’s sentiments, emphasizing the diverse demographic present at the event. “It’s encouraging to witness such a wide array of community members participating in this significant occasion,” she stated.

Hilary Wall, WIC Clerk and Vendor Coordinator, estimated that the attendance ranged from 100 to 150 people, noting that although 56 individuals officially signed in, many brought family members and friends, indicating strong community interest.

Health Director Brian Ellerby expressed his gratitude for the collaboration that made the event possible. “The dedication shown by our community is commendable. It’s heartening to witness both young parents and grandparents coming together, symbolizing the growth and vibrancy of our county,” he remarked. He went on to advocate for more engaging community events that foster support and connection among residents.

The Community Baby Shower not only provided essential resources but also fostered a sense of belonging and encouragement among those preparing for parenthood, ultimately contributing to the well-being of families in Anson County.
