“Becoming Led Zeppelin” Film Set for Theatrical Release

A forthcoming documentary showcasing the iconic rock band Led Zeppelin, titled “Becoming Led Zeppelin,” is set to hit theaters soon. Sony Classics Pictures has secured the rights for its release in various regions including North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia (excluding Japan), the Middle East, and Benelux.

The documentary, directed by the acclaimed Bernard MacMahon and written by MacMahon along with producer Allison McGourty, recently premiered a work-in-progress version at the Venice International Film Festival in September 2021. The finalized version promises a brand-new sound mix and never-before-seen archival material from all four band members.

In addition to chronicling the band’s journey, “Becoming Led Zeppelin” will also feature unreleased performance footage from historic shows such as The Fillmore West (January 1969), The Atlanta Pop Festival (July 1969), and The Texas Pop Festival (August 1969).

Guitarist Jimmy Page expressed his excitement after seeing an early cut of the film at the Venice Film Festival, praising the infectious energy of the story and the exceptional power of the music. Director MacMahon emphasized the film’s design for a grand cinematic experience with top-tier sound quality, while producer McGourty commended Sony Pictures Classics for their dedication to providing Led Zeppelin fans with the ultimate theatrical viewing experience.

With a star-studded team of producers and a treasure trove of unseen footage, “Becoming Led Zeppelin” promises to be a must-see for fans and music enthusiasts alike.
