Embrace Self-Love with RaJean Beauty
Megan Seard: A Trailblazer in Natural Skincare
Megan Seard epitomizes resilience and determination in the burgeoning field of natural skincare. Over the past five years, she has established herself as a formidable entrepreneur, driven by a passion for creating products that cater to a genuine need in the beauty industry. Recognizing the challenges faced by women of color in accessing effective and natural skincare solutions, Seard took the initiative to develop her own line of skin and body care products under the brand RaJean Beauty.
Seard’s journey began with personal necessity. Frustrated by the lack of readily available, all-natural products that were both effective and easy to understand, she decided to formulate her own. “It’s difficult to find products that are all-natural, where you can pronounce every ingredient,” Seard remarked, highlighting a prevalent issue within conventional beauty brands. She believed that many products marketed towards women of color not only failed to perform but also reinforced negative perceptions about their skin.
Determined to change this narrative, Seard created products that address common skin concerns, including eczema, stretch marks, dark spots, and psoriasis. Starting small, she sourced supplies online and crafted hand-written labels for her homemade lotions and sugar scrubs, initially selling them to friends and local women in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Her dedication and talent quickly garnered attention, prompting her frequent visits to Cincinnati to showcase her products at festivals, boutiques, and beauty salons. Recognizing the growing demand for her offerings, she made the strategic decision to relocate to Cincinnati in 2019, where her entrepreneurial endeavors could flourish.
Since her arrival, Seard has remained committed to producing all RaJean products herself, using solely natural and cruelty-free ingredients. A standout aspect of her brand is the inclusion of pure Ghanaian shea butter, a key ingredient known for its nourishing properties. “I know what shea butter can do for anybody and everybody,” she declared, emphasizing the importance of sourcing high-quality materials directly from Ghana. In addition to lotions and scrubs, RaJean Beauty’s expanding line includes facial bars, candles, and a collection tailored specifically for men.
Seard’s philosophy extends beyond product formulation; she advocates for a holistic approach to self-care. “Self-care isn’t a destination, it’s an ongoing journey. You’re constantly healing, growing, and learning,” she asserts, stressing the importance of nurturing one’s emotional and mental well-being alongside physical health.
In her latest endeavor, the GYFTYD Podcast (Get Your Freedom Touch Your Destiny), Seard aims to foster a supportive community for women navigating the complexities of self-care amid societal pressures. By addressing harmful narratives perpetuated by social media, she creates a platform for women to share experiences and seek empowerment. “One of the things I lean very heavy on is the fact that purpose transcends profession,” Seard notes, underscoring her commitment to creating safe spaces for her audience in all aspects of her life.
Through her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to community well-being, Megan Seard is not just building a brand, but also reshaping the conversation around beauty, identity, and self-empowerment in the modern world.
