While many traditional benefits such as PTO, flexible hours, and healthcare have seen little variation in adoption rates since 2022, other areas such as parental leave have seen slight improvements. Specifically, parental leave and onsite childcare have increased by 3%, whereas dependent healthcare benefits have sadly seen an 8% decline, indicating a shift that could impact employee satisfaction.

Large employers, particularly those with more than 1,000 employees, are particularly responsible for this decline, with over 8.5% reducing healthcare coverage for dependents this past year. Conversely, small and micro-employers (those with fewer than 25 employees) have displayed a contrasting trend, with a 3.6% increase in dependent healthcare coverage, showcasing their commitment to family-friendly practices.

The report from Funk reinforces the notion that micro and small businesses are becoming vital players in the quest for top talent. These organizations are increasingly recognizing that their responsiveness to employee needs, particularly through family-friendly policies, can serve as a competitive advantage against larger corporations, which may overlook these benefits.

There exists a substantial disparity between organizations that have adopted family-friendly policies and those that have not, with 94% of recognized employers offering remote work options, compared to just 30% of non-designated firms. This reveals a 40% gap in the adoption of family-supportive measures, signaling a pivotal opportunity for businesses to reassess their benefits for working parents.
