‘Former Yahoo CEO Mayer joins AT&T board’
Former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has been appointed to the board of AT&T, with immediate effect. She will be serving on the audit committee, as well as the corporate development and finance committee, bringing the total number of AT&T directors to 11.
Mayer, who is currently the CEO of Sunshine Products, a technology start-up she co-founded in 2018, previously held the positions of CEO and president of the board at Yahoo. She left Yahoo in 2017 after its operating business was acquired by Verizon for .5 billion. Prior to her time at Yahoo, Mayer spent 13 years at Google and has been a member of Walmart’s board since 2012.
AT&T chair Bill Kennard expressed that Mayer’s extensive background in technology, along with her deep understanding of how consumers experience and engage with the internet, will bring valuable insight to the board.
The appointment of Marissa Mayer to the AT&T board underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation in its service offerings. With her wealth of experience in the tech industry, Mayer is poised to make significant contributions to AT&T’s strategic direction and growth initiatives.
