Kappahl Group chooses Vanderlande for automation at new logistics centre
In 2026, Kappahl Group will move logistics from its current distribution centre in Mölndal to a newly built logistics centre in Arendal close to the Port of Gothenburg. Kappahl Group chooses Vanderlande to deliver the automation solutions in the 34,000 square meter property.
To meet the future needs of Kappahl Group, a new logistics centre will be established on Hisingen in Arendal, which will be operational in the latter part of 2026. Before the move, the property will be adapted and automated, and Vanderlande, together with Consafe Logistics, will become Kappahl Group’s partner for automation and systems in the new warehouse.
“ With the new logistics centre, we will have a better adapted warehouse for our operations with significantly increased capacity and the opportunity to scale up,” says Eva Meding, Logistics Manager at Kappahl Group.
From 2025, installation and testing of new systems will be underway so that Kappahl Group will finally be able to gradually move operations to the new facility in 2026, which is expected to be fully operational in the autumn of 2026.
“The logistics solution delivered by Vanderlande, together with Consafe Logistics’ warehouse management software, will provide us with excellent conditions for implementing Kappahl Group’s growth journey. In addition to increasing our capacity, we will develop an even better level of service to our customers and stores and enable further development for a sustainable logistics flow. We are really looking forward to starting up the collaboration and implementation project with Vanderlande and Consafe,” concludes Eva Meding.
Vanderlande is also looking forward to the collaboration:
“We are very excited to partner with Kappahl Group and look forward to helping them increase capacity as they introduce more innovation into their logistics operations in the new distribution centre and efficiently manage growth,” says James Cotton, Executive Managing Director Warehouse Solutions, Vanderlande.

FACT BOX:
Kappahl Group’s automated warehouse solution will be based on two so-called “storage and retrieval” solutions (AS/RS). To fully meet future needs, Kappahl Group has chosen to implement flexible and proven technology in the form of Adapto shuttle and a dynamic buffer storage, High Dynamic, Storage (HDS) from Vanderlande. Adapto is Vanderlande’s freight-to-man solution whose shuttles can be moved in multiple directions to handle storage, picking and sequencing. Initially, the picking capacity will correspond to approximately 7,000 order lines/hour and a storage capacity of approximately 150,000 cartons or boxes. The building has the opportunity to expand the solution in the future. The solution also consists of a sorting plant for e-commerce parcels, palletizing robots for deliveries to stores and equipment for hanging garments. The entire solution will be controlled by Astro WMS/WCS delivered by Consafe Logistics.
