Spahn & Rose Lumber Company to Purchase Whit Davis Lumber Plus

Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. Acquires Whit Davis Lumber Plus, Expanding Southeastern U.S. Presence

Spahn & Rose Lumber Co., a well-regarded supplier of lumber and building materials, has announced an agreement to acquire Whit Davis Lumber Plus, a family-owned business with deep roots in Arkansas. The agreement marks a significant move for Spahn & Rose as it aims to broaden its footprint in the southeastern United States. The acquisition is set to close on June 20, with the Whit Davis Lumber Plus locations in Jacksonville, Cabot, and Greenbrier expected to reopen under the Spahn & Rose umbrella on June 23. Notably, Whit Davis will retain its name and existing local management structure during the transition.

Dave Davis, CEO of Spahn & Rose, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Whit Davis Lumber Plus is everything you hope to find in a partner—deeply rooted in its community, fiercely loyal to its customers, and committed to doing things the right way.” This sentiment underscores the alignment of values between the two companies, emphasizing community engagement and customer service—a philosophy that has defined Whit Davis since its founding in 1953.

Founded by Whit and Miriam Davis, the company has a storied history of serving contractors and homeowners across central Arkansas, reaching a milestone of over 70 years in business. Its success is attributed not only to the quality of products but also to the strong community connections fostered by the Davis family.

Troy Hunter, who will continue to lead Whit Davis Lumber Plus after the acquisition, noted, “This transition is an exciting step forward for our company, our employees, and our customers.” He highlighted the shared commitment between the two organizations to nurturing customer relationships and employee development. The resources that Spahn & Rose brings are expected to enhance customer service capability in the region.

Dan Davis, representing the founding Davis family, voiced confidence in the decision to partner with Spahn & Rose. He stated, “I felt confident that Spahn & Rose was the right partner from early on. Their team consistently emphasized the importance of culture… I could not be any prouder to hand over our legacy to a more deserving team.”

This acquisition marks the sixth major addition to Spahn & Rose’s portfolio in recent years, joining previous acquisitions in Georgia and Alabama, among other states. The expansion into Arkansas aligns with the company’s strategy to reinforce its presence in the Southeastern market, where the demand for quality building materials continues to grow.

Currently operating 28 locations across Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Alabama, the addition of Whit Davis Lumber Plus bolsters Spahn & Rose’s commitment to serving diverse customer needs in a competitive marketplace. This strategic move not only enhances their operational capacity but also inspires confidence in continued growth and community investment in the Southeastern region. The synergy of the two companies is set to elevate the service experience for customers, ensuring that both legacy and innovation continue to thrive in the lumber and building materials sector.
