Top Athletes to Head Selection Committee for Second Uninterrupted Film Festival
LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, and Joel Embiid have joined forces to lead the selection committee for the upcoming Uninterrupted Film Festival in Los Angeles. This film event, focused on the intersection of sports culture and filmmaking, is backed by Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Enterprises.
The trio of James, Osaka, and Embiid will be in charge of selecting the short films that will premiere at the festival through an open call for submissions. The chosen films will debut at the event and become the inaugural class of Uninterrupted Film Festival award recipients.
Organized across two days in Los Angeles, the Uninterrupted Film Festival is managed by Uninterrupted, a brand under The SpringHill Company (TSHC) founded by James and his business partner Maverick Carter. This year marks the festival’s second edition.
Tribeca Co-Founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal expressed her excitement about collaborating with LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s The SpringHill Company, stating that the partnership aims to push boundaries in storytelling and establish Tribeca as a platform for award-winning sports filmmaking and programming outside of New York City.
The submission portal for the festival is now open until May 31, looking for “captivating athlete stories” that are “unique, innovative, and inspiring.” Projects can be narrative or documentary but must not exceed 40 minutes in length.
The Uninterrupted Film Festival is open to the public and will be held on July 9-10 in Los Angeles. This event promises to bring together the passion of sports with the artistry of filmmaking to offer a unique entertainment experience for fans.
