City Music Festival Reveals Summer Headliners – Jaun Baba
Metropolis Music is set to host its first Centenary Square Summer Series from August 23 to 26, coinciding with the August Bank Holiday weekend. Each day, the outdoor concert series will welcome up to 4,999 music enthusiasts.
The festival boasts an impressive lineup of headliners, including The Streets, Jungle, Cian Ducrot, and Ocean Colour Scene. Birmingham’s iconic Centenary Square will be transformed into a vibrant hub of live music for the event, showcasing headline artists from the city.
In addition to the headliners, the series will feature a diverse mix of international and local artists curated in collaboration with BBC Introducing. Tickets for the event will go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 8 at 10 am via the festival’s official website.
Kicking off the series on Friday will be The Streets, a multi-award-winning group hailing from Birmingham. Fronted by Mike Skinner, The Streets gained recognition with their Mercury Prize-nominated album ‘Original Pirate Material.’ Known for their insightful commentary on everyday life, the group promises an electrifying performance.
Saturday’s lineup will be headlined by Jungle, a dynamic music collective blending disco, soul, and hip hop. Emerging from Shepherds Bush, Jungle made waves with their debut album and garnered critical acclaim with subsequent releases.
Sunday night will see Cian Ducrot take the stage, presenting songs from his debut album ‘Victory,’ which includes the popular track ‘All For You.’ The evening will also feature performances by METTE, Talia Mar, and Holly Rolfe, offering a variety of musical styles to delight the audience.
Closing out the series on Monday will be Ocean Colour Scene, the iconic Birmingham band known for their hits from the 1996 Brit Pop album ‘Moseley Shoals.’ Joining them onstage will be Lucy Spraggan and Eighty Eight Miles, promising a memorable finale to the Centenary Square Summer Series.
